A small size laser cutting machine with low laser power. The work area for this machine is (50cmX30cmX10cm). This machine has three axes (X,Y,Z); the axis (X) called Gantry which allows the laser cutting head to move along to space (50cm), the (Y) axis is perpendicular to (X) axis and divided to two axes (Y1,Y2) which represent the two sides of the machine, the (Z) Axis is represented by the movement of the work table perpendicularly to (X,Y) axes. The (X) axis can move along the (Y) axis to space (30cm) and the (Z) axis can move up or down to space (10cm). the benefit of table movement is the gradual cutting ability and for thick materials cutting in case of engraving procedure on the surface without through cutting. the used motors are stepper ones, they are three motors according to the number of axes that used, the motors have medium accuracy, they can turn (1.8) degrees in every pulse, so to turn one complete rotation we need (200) pules, the loading torque for each motor is (0.43N.m). About the movement method for each axis: for the axes (X,Y), the method to generate the linear movement is to use synchronous pulleys connected to the stepper motor so the movement can be achieved by means of wheels can move on rails chosen from aluminum profiles catalogs, the wheels have grooves with (V) shape. regarding to work table movement, in addition to the synchronous pulleys and belt, the ballscrew way is followed -but without balls- by using threaded rod and rotary float nut, so when the rod is turned, the nut goes up and down. the table is held by four rods. the used laser is (CO2) kind with low power (40watt) with reflection mirrors kit to guide the laser vector toward the laser cutting head. the outside dimensions of the machine is (1000mmX600mmX330mm)
